Swiggy appoints Sairam Krishnamurthy as COO of its quick commerce arm-Instamart

Bengaluru, 5 August: Food platform aggregator, Swiggy on Monday announced that it has appointed Sairam Krishnamurthy as the chief operating officer (COO) of its quick commerce division-Instamart.

Krishnamurthy worked as COO of global ecommerce giant’s India unit, Amazon and Samara Capital-backed supermarket chain More Retail in his previous stints. He has also worked at Ola Cabs and Hindustan Unilever, the company said.

In this new role, Krishnamurthy will oversee Instamart’s operating units that include dark store operations, infrastructure operations, city growth and expansion. He holds an engineering degree from BITS Pilani and a PGDM from IIM Bangalore.

The IPO-bound Swiggy in the past few months has strengthened its leadership team with the addition of Himavant Srikrishna Kurnala as SVP of product and business, Aakash Bhotika as vice president of technical advisor, Mayank Rajvaidya as vice president of fruits & vegetables, and Manu Sasidharan as associate vice president of the FMCG category.

Swiggy Instamart currently operates in 33 cities and delivers groceries and other essentials across over 20 categories in 10 minutes. It competes with Zepto and Blinkit.
